Assassin’s Creed Strikes Again with Revelations

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is the newest addition to the Assassin’s Creed series. It holds true to the story of Ezio, Altair, and Desmond, adding yet another chapter to the saga. The game is the final chapter for Ezio and Altair, both of whom are protagonists within the series; Ezio for Assassin’s Creed 2 while Altair is from Assassin’s Creed 1. Assassin’s Creed Revelations aims to close the book for Ezio and Altair, but not for Desmond. Since the events of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Desmond slips into a coma and must find a way to break out of it. Without spoiling the game, an ally informs him that he must find a synch nexus: to relive everything he can until his ancestors has nothing left to show him. The game fully incorporates its predecessors’ set of skills and dynamic gameplay that Assassin’s Creed fans know and love with a few new additions such new daring assassinations, infiltration missions, and the new incorporation of bomb technology.

Gameplay = 8.5/10

The gameplay is not as different as its predecessors with a few additions. Ubisoft adds fluidity to combat, traversing the environment is smoother and faster as compared to the previous games in the series, and makes it more exciting with new weapons. Some of additions such as the den defense game is better left away from the Assassin’s Creed series no matter how much it fits in the game.

Graphics = 9/10

What makes the Assassin’s Creed series memorable is the unique architecture. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is no exception. The vibrant colors only amplify the beauty present in the world. The small details in every location, scene, and equipment makes it look realistic.

Re-playability = 7/10

For loyal fans, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will not disappoint even after finishing the game. The numerous amount of challenges, treasures, and the thrill of certain stages of the game will have people want to come back for more. The challenge of attaining 100 percent synchronization, or how the game wants you to finish a certain mission, will awaken the perfectionist within you and waste time.

Music = 8/10

The music sets the scene for the epic known as Assassin’s Creed. It will not disappoint with its glorious operas and classical music. It amplifies the sheer excitement when one is stabbing an enemy, or the sorrow that looms in the air when a tragedy occurs. Jesper Kyd’s music fits the environment. A more European styled atmosphere present in the theme of Assassin’s Creed 2 in contrast to the Eastern influence that dominates the music in Assassin’s Creed Revelations.

Ezio’s Family is a very solemn piece by Kyd which suggests feelings of sorrow. It portrays of a lament at times. This piece originally came from Assassin’s Creed 2.

Crossroads of the World is a piece that suggests a difference of environment. This piece offers a stark contrast to the influences Assassin’s Creed 2. This piece has a more “eastern” feel to it which is visibly seen in the environment of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

The newest addition to the Assassin’s Creed series leaves you wanting more. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations does not fail to surprise as expected.
