Area 51 Nevada, USA

Commentary: The urge to know what really goes on behind those trespassing warnings, gated alien rendezvous, the UFOs and the phenomena that continues to rock our curiosity on all things not from this earth at Area 51 in Nevada, remains forever aligned in the minds of the curious.

It was this ever growing fascination over Area 51 Nevada and the supposedly top secret activities being conducted by the Government there, that prompted three buddies and I to make the road trip to the site last week. We wanted to see for ourselves what really is the spin on this masquerade.

We took the extraterrestrial Highway to the little town known as Rachel, about 11 miles from Area 51.

To our horror, the town was totally bare of any businesses, except for one little motel called the ‘Ale’ Inn’.

The owner of the motel told us that the gas station, a trailer park and convenience store had closed shop in 2006. A Research Center for Area 51 that catered to the whims and fancy of tourists had also closed down in 2001.

So there we were in the middle of no where, praying we would not run out of gas!

A sign on the motel read ‘Earthlings Welcome’ …….yeah sure I thought, like right out of a Steven King movie where there was no turning back.

A time capsule had been placed in a monument next to the Inn commenorating the location for the filming of “Independence Day 4″. The monument read:

‘This capsule to be opened in the Year AD 2050, by which time interplanetary travelers shall be regular guests of our planet Earth’.

After driving down a dirt road for 9 miles west of Rachel, we reached the ‘Black Gate’ to Area 51. The Black Gate is the back entrance to Area 51.The dirt road quickly changes to a pavement setting beyond the gates. A well taken sign that the base boundary for Area 51 begins.

The area was well gated and had strict warning signs of instant arrest and fines up to $1000 for all trespassers.

Since we could not see very much from this end of Area 51, we decided to drive to the main entrance. We took the Groom Lake Road. We drove for about 11 miles until we got to the main entrance. Unlike the back entrance, the main entrance had no gates and the road ironically continued as a dirt road beyond the signs.

However, we did notice heavy security all around us, just waiting to arrest the unwitting trespasser.

We decided to take photos with our cell phones before leaving. My phone had reached the end of it’s battery trail, so I had a hard time getting a few shots each time before the phone would die out.

My buddies however, got their fair share of pictures and before we could get into any trouble we headed back to the car.

It was getting dark when we passed the Ale’ Inn. The motel had a huge flying saucer monument that lighted up the sky in many colors, a beacon to the night traveler for several miles.

But the most odd outcome of our whole trip was when we got back to Las Vegas and checked our photos on our phones.

There were no pictures on any of the phones of my budies. They had all been miraculously erased.

My phone was the only one that still had all my images in tact.

We all questioned in disbelief, was it because my phone kept loosing power on and off during those moments making it difficult for security to tap into my phone?

I still wonder……. how did Area 51 security manage to delete the other photos?

Perhaps, technology at it’s best.
