How many golf tournaments have you seen where the players in the winners group who have no chance of catching him, “clear the stage” so the winner strikes the last shot? It happens almost every week. Unless there is a potential one shot swing, the player who has lapped the field, or is 2 shots clear….you get the message. We’ve all seen it. Except for this week at Pebble Beach.
Let’s face it, Mr. Woods and Mr. Mickelson are not ever going to invite each other to play in the same sandbox, but come on now Tiger, play nice.
On the last hole of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Phil clearly had Tiger annoyed. After reaching the Par 5 18th hole in two, Tiger had a long putt for eagle. Phil stuffed his 3rd inside 4 feet. Tiger misses and has a 2-3 footer and marks it! I could just hear Phil’s thoughts…..”you SOB….not going to give me an inch huh?”. Phil steps up and drains his birdie and just smiles that Phil smile. And the golf gods give Tiger one more slap in the head. He power lips his putt to make par! Good!
I can’t help but think Tiger got what he deserved. Now I wonder……do the golf gods have any mercy?
