Agreements: A Must-Read Book of 2011

This captivating narrative tells the story of the life and adventures of a “western” woman with “eastern” experiences. Told with candor and humility, it describes the agony and ecstasy of an exceptional growth process that includes fascinating encounters with many Masters on this and the higher planes. The reader will come away inspired and encouraged to seek the personal relationship to the Light that weaves like a common thread through the author’s ongoing journey toward awakening. More than an interesting autobiography, Agreements is thus a “teaching tale” with a universal message.

After I had finished reading “Agreements” I went online to amazon.com to register my opinion and gave it Five Stars. “This is a great read! What I liked about it most was the honesty. This book lays it all out for this person, the good and the bad. It makes one realize they are not alone in their doubts and fears about our journeys. And that it’s probably normal to backslide a little now and then – kind of like getting lost in a jungle and then all of a sudden there’s a clearing, and then a jungle again. Only now you know there’s probably, hopefully, another clearing up ahead. So you keep going. It makes me wonder what’s happened since then, with the adopted children, with the move… This book is with you long after you finish reading it. And that’s a good thing!”

When speaking recently with the author of Agreements, I asked the ultimate question, “What is the Light?”

“Whole books have been written on this subject for centuries,” says Linda Stein-Luthke. “I actually leave that as a question for the reader. Searching for the Light is a very personal journey that will lead to a very personal answer for everyone. When I teach meditation I describe more about how the Light functions than what it actually is.”

She is smiling when I note that and sigh, wanting something more definitive, something more exact. “This Light comes from the Creator, or Infinite Source. I doubt that we can completely embrace an understanding of it with our ego minds. It is more something we experience. It fills our being and gives us everything in creation. Even when we die, it just changes form. Our bodies become dust, but that is still filled with the Light of Creation. Our souls or spirits depart and are also filled with this Light that gives us consciousness even after leaving our forms.”

Now it is me who is smiling. I am a novice and the Master is telling me that the answers are inside me. I feel humbled and yet honored at the same time.

“The Light is omniscient, eternal, unconditionally loving and nurturing to us,” Linda says. “When we embrace it, we can find peace, balance, harmony, and wisdom within. The act of meditation is one way to find this Light within. Interacting with nature and being of service to aid this beautiful Creation are other ways we can experience the Light. Some find this connection through a religious affiliation. Any creative act allows us a more profound interaction with the Light. Without Light, there would be nothing.”
