A Summer Proposal

July first was a cool summer night,
The reflection of the moon was our only light;
From the ocean blew a cool summer’s breeze,
I was so cold and beginning to freeze;
He wrapped me in both a blanket and his arms to keep warm,
The sky was so cloudy as if it was about to storm.

He took my hand and looked me in the eyes,
My stomach became full of butterflies;
He told me he loved me, and our daughter too,
I did not have a clue,
Of what he was about to do.

He got down on bended knee,
And, asked, “Will you marry me?”
I replied, “Yes,” with my eyes full of tears,
He had help me overcome one of my greatest fears.

On my finger, he placed a ring,
I cannot wait to see what the future brings!
