Q: I thought it was a throat swab test, but then my mom said I had to get a blood test. I want to know if I have swine flu but I’m really afraid of needles and I HATE how blood tests feel so I don’t want to get a blood test. So what’s the test to know if you have swine flu?

Q: My 3 year old Niece has just been diagnosed with Swine flu today.We spent last Sunday & Monday with her. My son who is just two years old was playing, kissing, hugging her etc.Im now worried he may get sick too as he has a weak immune system and bad asthma.He doesn’t appear to be sick at all at the moment but what is the incubation period of swine flu?What should i do in the meantime, is it too late to get him vaccinated if he has already been infected?

That’s normal for children, they get up to 10 a year and if he has asthma, he will have post viral chesty episodes which make it appear like it he always unwell- he actually isn’t. Nothing you can do now, if he gets it, he gets it. If you vaccinate at this late stage in a bid to prevent this current infection he has been exposed to, it will unlikely work.
