How long do mono symtoms usually last?
Q: I have a pretty severe case of mono right now, and ive been diagnosed for almost 1 week so far..when will the symptoms more than likely go away?
A: I have it now… 8 weeks in.My first 3 weeks were terrible. I went to the emergency room two times. I ran fever for one full week. Weeks 4-5 I was exhausted, but without the major symptoms or emergency room visits. I just sat on the couch, or slept. But I was feeling alot better.Week 6 was pretty good. I managed to go for a few short walks. I even got out of the house a couple times to run an errand or two per doctor orders.Week 7-8 I went back to work. I feel very worn down every day. Fatigue & back ache and aches in my side. (work is very stressful for me and I got back to find that they had cheated me out of thousands of dollars due to me… adds stress)Do be very careful of your left side, under your ribcage. You may have an enlarged spleen. sometimes you can tell because it hurts, sometimes it doesn’t hurt even though it is enlarged. Ask your doctor if this applies to you because you will need to be extra cautious not to injure yourself.
How long does it take for you to develope symtoms of mono?
Q: My friend (who i share cigarettes and drinks with all the time) just found out that he has mono…I’m assuming i’m going to get it considuring the amount of time we spend together, so how long will it take for the symptoms to start showing up? Is there a blood test i can take to find out if I have the virus even before symptoms start showing up?
A: I know this because my best friend’s daughter has mono and our children spend alot of time together so I found out all that I could. Mono is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus and has a 6 week incubation period. Symptoms can be, but are not limited to, sore throat, headache, fatigue, rash, and abdominal pain. A blood test is not effective until 6 weeks after exposure. Hope this helps!!
What are the symtoms of mono?
Q: I think I have mono but I am not sure because the internet is not really clear. I have asked two questions about mono already- i am just still confused.
A: The most common symptoms are:sore throatblisters in the back of the throatconstant drowsinessdizzinesshigh feverloss of appetiteetc. The only way to be sure if you have mono is to get a simple blood test done at the doctor’s office.I’m suffering from mono at the moment. I had been constantly tired for a couple weeks, and my throat started hurting saturday morning. A blister appeared Sunday night and my mom scheduled a doctor’s appt. Any of these symptoms could be strep throat, so don’t try to diagnose mono yourself, because strep can get worse–if you do have strep. Go to the doctor’s office and get the blood test, and if you do have it–they’ll give you a note to miss school/work for awhile…and drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest, seeing as how there’s no cure for mono (you may just have to wait it out)
