What is the most common and most rare blood type?
Q: i was wondering what is the most common blood type and what was the most rarest.
A: The rarest blood type is AB negative; the most common is O+, I believe. It depends on what part of the world you mean. I'm assuming that you're talking about the world in general, but there are specific differences in certain parts of the world.

Why is O+ the most common blood type in the world?
Q: This is bugging the hell out of me. Is it because Mendel's Laws has it prevailing as the highest when done randomly? But then that wouldn't explain why some countries have A as the prevailing blood type. I understand that O+ IS the most common blood type just not why it is.... can someone help?
A: the person above me is wrong, the allele for O blood type is actually NOT dominant. A and B are dominant over O. anyways, according to this site i guess A blood type developed first and then O and B last. (through evolution). http://www.bio-medicine.org/biology-definition/Blood_type/Since O is more universal, maybe over the years full blood transfusions replaced a few A types with O so the number beat them. no clue on that though, just a guess.google it for a while and see what you find.
