For how long can you use NSAIDs for arthritis and joint inflammation?
Q: I have arthritis and multiple joint pain, my dr put me on NSAIDs which are causing many side effects and I’m scared that it might do damage to my body. I’m 27 by the way. So I wonder for how long can I use those NSAIDs? few months?
A: Definitely not! I would suggest that you only use them for a week….whatever you are taking only take a week’s dosage and stop. Your inflammation should be settled by then.By the way aspirin and Nurofen are NSAIDS as well so be aware of this.NSAIDS can cause stomach problems/bleeding.So I further suggest the following for your pain:1) Paracetemol tablets. 2 every 4 hours but no more than 8 a day. If the pain remains after one hour of taking 2+500MG paracetemol…take a 50MG Tramadol. However be cautious with this.medication..they are addictive and an opiate so. never go ABOVE 200MG a day. and no drinking alcohol on them if you are driving….as the combination makes you drowsy2) Have you tried acupuncture as a remedy. This may work for you.3) And finally exercise assists with pain management. Ask the doctor
