What are the symptoms of Mono? How do I get better fast? I have fever of 101, aching, exhausted, sore throat?
Q: Also slight headache and swollen throat glands. Could it be just the flu? I’ve been like this since yesterday and it’s worse today. Is this catching?ok, no yellow eyes nor skin, no sore abdomen, no rash…can i delay visit to doc until Mon.? The doc in the box is so $$$? Thanks to everyone!!!My throat is not hurting bad enough for strep, it’s the achiness and fever that’s worst.
A: These initial symptoms which you describe is more vague and is the most similar too a flu which you may have gotten. Some more specific symptoms of mono are 1. Swollen Lymph Nodes, 2. Jaundice (yellowish tinge to your skin and eyes), 3. Formation of a rash anywhere on your body, 4. Red spots on the roof of your mouth, and 5. Soreness in the upper left abdomen. These symptoms, if you have mono, will appear within the first day or two after initial symptoms start. If you suspect you have mono, a visit to your physician will take care of any suspicians. They can administer a mono spot test which will confirm the diagnosis, and so proper treatment can be started.
Sore swollen glands, no fever?
Q: I have had swollen, painful swollen glands on one side of my neck for close to 2 weeks now. I have no fever and do not have a sore throat. I had a bad headache for several days but that ended a few days ago, while the swollen glands have become larger and more stiff/sore. Should I spend the $ and time to go to a doctor? Does it just sound like some run-of-the-mill viral thing? Since it’s only on one side, does that mean I have an infection somewhere on that side? I don’t really have any other symptoms. I have been more tired than usual but I rarely get anywhere near enough sleep, and I’ve been kind of dizzy, though I also attribute that to sleep deprivation.Thank you for any advice you can give!
A: my suggestion, check out webmd. it is very helpful in stuff like this heres what it says according to your symptoms: Swollen glands. that matches your symptoms the most but id see a doctor just to be sure
severely sore throat but no cold symptoms or fever?
Q: I was hoping to find some input from a medical professional out there. About 5 days ago I woke up with a very bad sore throat. My glands feel swollen and when I swallow it hurts my ears. It feels like my eustachian tubes are blocked a little bit too. It’s been getting worse every day. I don’t have any other cold or flu symptoms at all. No sniffing, sneezing, coughing, congestion or fever. No aches or pains. No abnormal fatigue. No headaches. Just this really awful sore throat and earache-but only when i swallow. Thought it could be strep, but then I’m pretty sure I would have a fever by now. And I never got one. I’ve never suffered from allergies, and haven’t felt any kind of post-nasal drip so I seriously doubt that’s the problem. Also, there are no white spots on my tonsils. Just swollen. I was trying to wait and see if it went away because I have no health insurance right now and REALLY don’t want to have to go to the doctor. But if it could be a bacterial infection of some kind, I should probably go. Help?
A: nope.. you still could have strep. I one time went to the doctor, and all I had was a sever sore throat, no fever, even after a week of having it. It sure enough turned out to be strep throat. My ears were bothering me as well, do to inflamation of the throat. you still should go to the doctor. I know you don’t want to , but strep throat can become exstremely sever if not treated properly, and is an illness where antibiotics are necessary. I also didn’t have any white spots on my tonsils. I thought it was odd as well, but it still turned out to be strep. It also could posibly be post nasal drip. even though you don’t feel any conjestion in the sinuses, or like a cold, this still could be the reason. eitehr way you really should go to the doctor. It may also be swollen lympnodes, but this still should be checked out being as it could be symptoms of more seriouse medical conditions. hope this helped a bit. good luck my firend. hope your throat stops hurting soon.ps. just incase I would say this to anyone. but if you have been purging ( throwing up) at all weather purposly or due to an upset stomach, this will cause a sore throat as well, just incase.
