I have osgood schlatter disease, what do i do with this bump under my knee?
Q: I’ve had osgood schlatter diease since i was 11. when i was young i was very active so i am informed on how i got the disease/condition. But i am 18 now and i have this bump below my knee cap which i believe is tibial tuberosity. the bump is not normal like my other leg which did not have osgood schlatter. But with this leg i dont have any more pains or any problems such as with walking or running. but if i were to put all my weight or pressure down onto this leg i would feel a small sharp pain below the bump coming from my shin bone or so (ex: pushing off to make a quick short dash). Also this leg feels weaker than the other one and it gets quite annoying to have this bump in the way when i kneel down on my knees to do some sort of activity such as paintballing. So the question is, what can i do to get rid of this bump without maybe going through surgery.
A: Slow the motion Avoid excessive sports activity or exercise that might aggravate the disease Get extra antioxidants Take 400 IU a day of vitamin E and 150 mcg a day of selenium to help the healing Chill the pain Apply ice regularly to the painful area to reduce inflammation Hope this helps…….It couldn’t hurt. If it gets worse PLEASE see your doctor again!fishineasy
Can Osgood Schlatter disease affect total growth?
Q: Im not talking about growth like for now until a few months, im talking like, in a year or two when ive stopped growing and the osgood disease has gone away (hopefully) will i be as tall as i wouldve been if i never got the disease?
A: Yeah it has no effect on your growth. It mainly just causes pain where your tendon is inserting on your bone.

Q: I am 16 years old, have had this for about 5 years.dont just say “have adoctor look at it”, cuz i will soonbut i heard there is like a strap u can put on it.what is it whats it called where can i get it how much does it cost?what r other ways to get rid of osgood schlatter?
A: Osgood schlatter is basically a growth malfunction with your bone in your knee. You will always have the bump on your knee but the pain will go away when you stop growing. (I’m not making this up because I have it also)
