- A: It actually depends on if your diagnosis was moderate or mild. I was diagnosed in 1997 and had the LEEP procedure a year and a half later (because I was scared and kept putting it off). Within that time my dysplasia advanced from mild to moderate. Since having the LEEP procedure I have had all normal paps. I think it is okay to wait a few months to have the procedure done but I would definitely get it done as soon as possible. I had little to no cramping with the procedure.
