Q: I Have to have a LEEP procedure done because of abnormal pap smear test i had done. The colposcopy showed I had severe dysplasia. I had a HORRIBLE experience with the colposcopy alone. I am so scared to have this LEEP done. Please, please tell me your experiences. Be truthful
A: honestly, it hurt a pretty good bit. but you HAVE to have it done. they told me it was not supposed to hurt at all, but i have endymetriosis so i think that may be why it did. who knows, you may not even feel. you really need to have it done though if you had an abnormal pap.
How qucikly can the cells of moderate dysplasia change in a month, my gyn has scheduled a leep procedures?
Q: for aug 15tj 08 so i have to wait a whole month to start getting this taken care of and i am worried that the cells we change again and become serve, and i am really worried about this i am only 33 and i have not had any kids yet and i do not want cervical cancer
A: It actually depends on if your diagnosis was moderate or mild. I was diagnosed in 1997 and had the LEEP procedure a year and a half later (because I was scared and kept putting it off). Within that time my dysplasia advanced from mild to moderate. Since having the LEEP procedure I have had all normal paps. I think it is okay to wait a few months to have the procedure done but I would definitely get it done as soon as possible. I had little to no cramping with the procedure. I have attached a very inofmrative article. Good luck!
