What are signs of having hypoglycemia?
Q: Lately I have been tired all the time, I have no energy what so ever and I will get really dizzy and weak. Someone told me to have my sugar checked and I did. After sleeping it registered around 70 and after eating breakfast (biscuit and coke) around an hour later it was only 87. Is this a warning sign for me being hypoglycemic?
A: Your brain is affected the most when your blood sugar drops because it can’t store sugars like your muscles can. The symptoms above are common. For me, I just don’t feel myself. Something feels wrong with my body. 70 seems low but is understandable first thing int he morning. You should see a doctor to be sure so they can run controlled tests and monitor your blood sugar.
When taking my NPH insulin at 8am, when can I be looking for signs of hypoglycemia?
Q: Between what hours can I be lookking for signs
A: Everybody is different, but the object is to NOT have hypoglycemia. Make sure you eat after you take your insulin, eat snacks if you need them if you feel lightheaded between meals or have extra exercise, keep track of your blood glucose levels and take your medicine on time. Highs and lows aren’t healthy. It’s important to try to keep your glucose level as close to normal as possible throughout the day.
