It is possible for herpes lesions to be large but most people’s cold sores are not that big. Herpes can also appear anywhere on the skin or mucous membranes. It would probably need a way to get into the area though…like through cuts or ab…

What are possibility of getting hsv1 from sharing a straw and dip?
Q: I went to dinner and was drinking a water with a straw. After a while i left it here and my cousin grabbed it because she had no straw and drank from it (no one noes i have hsv1) Then after I ate from a spoon and dipped it in a dip to put it in my place then after a friend ate from same dip ( i did it unconsciously) What are the chances of them getting hsv1?
A: well, here’s the big question…do you currently have a cold sore? That is really the only time that hsv1 is contagious. IF you have a cold sore AND your cousin had an open sore in her mouth, it IS possible, just not very probable. as far as the dip thing, its not possible at all, so don’t worry about it.by the way, something like 70% of all people have hsv1, so there is no need to feel bad about it and hide it
What are chances of giving hsv1 from this?
Q: Eating food and sucking your fingers and then giving someone a piece of bread. What are the chance of getting hsv1 like that.
A: 50 : 50.HSV-1 is the most commonly acquired form of herpes and is typically spread through a social kiss such as that of a family member. Due to the lack of immune response in children, new HSV-1 infections typically occur in childhood.Update: “Recent research indicates that HSV 1 is probably not more easily acquired than HSV 2. And now, the average age of acquisition of HSV 1 is in the teens, rather than childhood” according to a licensed healthcare provider.By the time that child reaches adulthood, they will be one of 50% of American’s living with HSV-1. By the time a person reaches the age of 50, they will be one of 80-90% of those who carry HSV-1.Both types (hsv1 & hsv2) are most contagious during active outbreaks, however they can be transmitted during times of viral shedding, when no symptoms of an outbreak are present. HSV-1 is shed into the saliva and is likely coming from the mucosa inside the mouth and on the lips, approximately 18% of the days on average, of asymptomatic days, in the person who has intermittent cold sores, when measured by PCR. To date there is no way of possibly knowing when shedding is occurring without the constant supervision of trained researchers.
