- What is causing my constant abdominal distention along with burping?
- Q: I have had abdominal distention for quite some time now. I would say close to 2 months. I previously went to my doctor and he suggested it was fecal impaction because I was constipated at the time but that was nearly 2 months ago. I have since then remained fairly consistent.I have also seen my GI specialist and he had a blood test as well as a CT scan and found no infection or obstruction of any sort. I have noticed that I have had more frequent burping even hours after eating a meal. One other observation I have had is that in the morning I have significantly less distention sometimes none at all. One morning I woke up with a very dry throat but all my distention was gone.
- A: U are dehydrated. So U need much water to correct ur problem. When U lack water, the proper digestion of food is compromised. U shld note that anything that is immersed in water softens easily. So does the food we eat. The best way to hydrate for good digestion is this: Take 16-24 ounces 30-60 minutes before meals. This will supply water around the stomach lining and prepare the stomach for digestion. As food enters the stomach during meals, the stomach acid breaks the food first and then the water found along the stomach lining further helps the digesting. Taking water with the food only dilutes the stomach acids and may cause insufficient digestion creating gas and bloated stomach.Take water again 2 and a half hrs after meals. The food now in the small intestines need further digestion and hydrating it facilitates the process. Also helps soften ur stools for easier defecation.Take water also upon waking up in the morning and at bedtime. Take abt 16-24 ounces. This will hydrate U while U are asleep. Replace every urine with 8 ounces water. If U cld tolerate, add 1/4 tsp to every 1 quart of water,. Salt holds water and so will help U hydrate more efficiently. In case U develop swelling in the feet, stop salt for 2-3 days and then resume it when swelling subsides.Hope this helps.
- I have flatulence + slow bowel movement due to abdominal distention?
- Q: i have flatulence. This gives rise to abdominal distention. As a result, the stools are not released easily. In the rectum lot of gases are accumulating in the night after digestion. These gases are not easily passing away even i try hard to pass the gas away.Due to this excessive amount of gas, the stools are moved upwards into the colon. Only after the gas goes out, the stools are passed away. This slow movement of stools and gas accumulation cause discomfort and make me ideal in the morning till i evacuate. Please suggest suitable remedies
