- A: There really isn't a way to activily pass a kidney stone... it either comes out or its too big to come out... there is no way to force it. She should consult a urologist, they deal with those kinds of issues and can perscribe a drug that will allow the best possible conditions for passing the stone (our office uses something called Flowmax) or he/she will suggest either laser lithotripsy, or shock wave lithotripsy. If the stone is to big to pass and it blocks the ureter (the tube from the kidney to the bladder) it will cause A LOT of pain and she will have to get something done.
