Some examples would be: Sharing needles with an infected person, blood transfusions before 1992, dirty tattoo parlors, sharing razors/toothbrushes with an infected person, basically anything that will give you DIRECT contact with contaminated blood. Hep C is NOT spread through sex, UNLESS direct blood to blood contact occurs.Hep C is so dangerous because it’s symptoms usually do not show up until many years after you contract it. Hep C can lead to liver damage, including cirrhosis, sometimes leading to a liver transplant. But like I said, it usually takes 20+ years for these symptoms to show. So, if you suspect that you have been exposed, it would be a good idea to go get a Hep C panel done.
