A: Hypogycemia means having a consistently or frequent low blood sugar that falls below the normal for blood glucose readings. It is a cause of death for type 1 insulin dependant diabetics because they go into a coma when their abnormally high blood glucose drops well below notmal. But most folks with hypoglycemia all the time do not have Type 1 diabetes.Alcoholics often have hypoglycemia because they take in so much sugar in the alcohol and do not eat properly. Fainting may or may not be caused by hypogycemia. Stress and improper diet and forgetting breakfast can factor in.A well balanced diet can overcome low blood sugar if that’s your problem. If you feel faint and get a headache, try a spoonful of peanut butter. Ignore the fat content because it has protein and sugar.Hypoglycemia is now considered a type of diabetes or at least a pre-cursor for diabetes.Mainly though…it’s proper, nutritional food in small portions that keeps us healthy. Smaller meals or grazing every several hours is actually the healthiest way to eat.
