If you fantasise about being anorexic does that mean something is wrong?
Q: I have this stupid obsession with size zero and i know it is wrong but i really admire people who are this size. I seem to be getting more and more obsessed with pro-ana websites, and im always wishing i could be anorexic. I spend nearly 8 hours online a day researching into all these things, do i have some kind of problem because its all i can think about.
A: Yes this does sound slightly unhealthily on some levels (the pro-anorexia websites that is) but there is a difference between being anorexic and size 0. The whole size zero debate really annoys me. I am size 0 and I’m healthily, size 0 does not necessarily mean anorexic as the media have portrayed. Unfortunately there are some irresponsible people who have chosen to starve themselves to become thin, and this has given ‘thin’ a bad name. Anorexia is a mental illness, not just someone who has gone over the top with weight loss.
If somebody goes anorexic does that mean their face will get less chubby too?
Q: My friend Miranda is and she is in counsiling and stuff for being anorexic.. but she has a chubbyish face.. but a REALLY skinny body.. she’s 15 and 75 pounds.. :[ But if somebody does go anorexic does their face get less chubby? Is Miranda just, different, or whatever
A: Even though she’s very thin, her bone structure might make it impossible to have a “skinny” face. Her face is probably looking really gaunt, despite the “chubby” look you think you see. If you were to look at Miranda while she was healthy and eating properly and compare that to what she looks like when she’s not eating, there would definitely be a difference in her face. Her eyes probably look dark underneath too. Anorexia is not an attractive disease; do your best to stay by her side. Eating disorders are difficult to overcome, especially if you’re going at it without support from friends and family. I hope she gets better; keep her strong.
What does anorexic mean?
Q: My sister thinks my cat is anorexic and i don’t know what it means. And this boy who sits next 2 me says im anorexic.
A: Anorexic: “a person suffering from anorexia or esp. anorexia nervosa.”Anorexia is actually a symptom. It’s the decreased sensation of appetite for whatever reason. Anorexia nervosa is different. Anorexia nervosa is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes an eating disorder, characterized by low body weight and body image distortion, with an obsessive fear of gaining weight. Individuals with anorexia are known to control body weight commonly through the means of voluntary starvation, purging, excessive exercise or other weight control measures, such as diet pills or diuretic drugs.
