They were in a modern sense travailing preachers. Taken in full context, it sounds like the Bible is referring not specifically to spiritual leaders, but to descendants of Abraham (the Old Testement’s ‘Chosen People.’) So, while I know some would disagree and it’s all up to interpretation, I’d say that anyone who follows the God of the Bible is ‘anointed.’ Just to be on the safe side, I’d avoid doing any harm to anyone, wherever possible. 😉
