- How do i know if i got a concussion?
- Q: I went to the Mansion of Terror last night. While inside, some actor got up in my face and i backed up into the wall, hitting my head really hard. After that i had to run through these black bouncy house type thing that were pressed really close together. Then that led straight into a room that had a maze and strobe lights. After i got out of the first house. I was really lightheaded and dizzy, my head was also throbbing. I thought it was just because i was scared so i went into the second house. This one was called Death Asylum. Me and the person i was with only made it halfway through because we were so scared. So we left and my head was still throbbing. It was throbbing at home and when i went to bed. When i woke up, it felt the same as it had the night before. Im still feeling kind of dizzy and not myself. Im really tired and i dont remember alot of what went on inside the house. What im trying to figure out is if all of this is just because of all of the different things i experienced or did i physically hurt my head? My head is throbbing and aching in the front where my forehead is and on the top and part way down the back. Not quite to my neck. I took Tylenol but nothing seems to be helping. Im a freshman in highschool so its not like its because of aging or anything like that. So if you have any suggestions/recommendations id appreciate it.
- A: You need to tell your parents what your symptoms are and you need to go to see a doctor. Your regular doctor will want to run a CT scan or an MRI, so if you call the doctor's office and talk to a nurse they can get that instruction to send you off for the test. Regardless of the results, your symptoms are classic concussion symptoms and you need to be treated by a neurologist. They will give you more information on what to expect, activity limitations etc. They can prescribe medicines to help get rid of or prevent the headaches. The fact that you are young is in your favor as far as the speed of your recovery. But you want to make sure that you don't get another concussion. First things first, get yourself to the doctor!
