Q: I recently started using this Crest mouthwash…but I had used it the night before. And right before my mouth got all crazy on me I had kissed my boyfriend. Any thoughts? It’s really painful, it hurts to eat and brush teeth.
A: Probably your mouthwash caused the swelling of your gums as an allergic reaction. Your gums becomes inflamed and when left untreated swollen gums may progress and develop into gingivitis. Observe superior oral care by brushing and flossing regularly and opt for natural mouth rinse such as using a salt and warm water solution, it can effectively speed up the healing of your swollen gums and prevent gum disease from occurring. My brother has really swollen gums, what is the likely cause?
Q: It was his lymph node in his neck, underneath his jaw, but it’s not really that anymore, so much as it is his gums. I think they’re swollen all around, he said he can’t even eat anything remotely hard and hurts to talk sometimes even. A week or two ago, he was at the dentist for a check-up and he said his wisdom teeth were growing in sideways or something like that. Could that be the cause? The swelling had only started a few days ago, so it wasn’t swollen when he was at the dentist yet.
A: it really depends on where the swelling is, and the degree of the swelling. are his gums bleeding? does he have poor oral hygiene? if so, the swelling can be due to gingivitis for which he would have to get his teeth cleaned, and start brushing and flossing better. is he on any medications? some people with epilepsy take drugs that can cause the gums to swell up so much, that in some people, they can’t even close their mouth! is the swelling this severe? is the swelling localized to the area where the wisdom tooth is? if so, he could have pericoronitis which means he has an swelling infection of that area. it’s hard to say if the swollen lymph nodes are related to his gums, but his lymph nodes show that he is definitely ill. he should go to a doctor first, then to a dentist. good luck
