- Can dreaming about peeing cause you to pee the bed?
- Q: Last night I had a dream in which I was peeing. It felt very realistic. Then I woke up and my PJ bottoms and the sheets were all soaking wet.Should I be worried and maybe see a doctor?I’ve never had this happen before and it’s embarrissing.
- A: I can relate. I went through a period last year where this happened to me a couple of times a week for about a month and a half. It was very distressing-I couldn’t figure out any pattern and I couldn’t predict when it would happen. I tried setting the alarm for 2:00 to get up and go to the bathroom, but I would sleep right through it and end up wetting the bed. Believe it or not, I actually decided to buy some adult diapers to wear to bed. I went to see my doctor, and she was fairly worried-she said it was very unusual for an adult who had not had this problem growing up to develop it suddenly like I did. She thought I might be having seizures at night. She ordered a sleep study (where they wired me up and monitored me while I slept). They found that my “sleep architecture” was very disrupted (meaning that I wouldn’t stay in the various stages of sleep as long as I should and would cycle 30-40 times per hour). In any event, they couldn’t really tell me what it meant, but they thought it might be related to stress. I basically just cut back on fluids for 2 hours before going to bed and made sure to use the bathroom right before bed. It worked-just as mysteriously as it started, it stopped and hasn’t happened since.Anyway, I can relate. If it happens again, you should talk to your doctor just to make sure it isn’t something serious. Good luck!
- What would cause my 1yr old cat to start peeing on my bed?
- Q: She only does this when I am in it. On Saturday, I had a b-day party for my son. My cat peed on my bed that night and on Sunday night. Could she be mad at me for this?
- A: She was probably stressed out and the party guests made her too afraid to use her usual litterbox. She might also have a bladder infection. Check with your vet.
- How do I stop my cat from peeing on my bed?
- Q: My cat is 8 years old and a few times lately she has been peeing on my bed. Someone told me it could be cause she is old, someone told me that she could have a bladder infection, and someone told me that she could just want attention from me. My cat and I are close she is around me all the time and when I am at the computer and I don’t pay attention to her she will cry at me none stop till I look at her. So it is understandable why she might be doing it for attention.
- A: The best thing to do is have a vet check her over to make sure that it isn’t a bladder or urinary infection. If they give her a clean bill of health, then you can consider behavioural causes, such as marking territory if she’s feeling insecure or anxious. The web site below has a check list of 18 reasons that cats stop using their litter box. You’ll also find lots of behavioural information on this web site, which may help you solve the problem.http://www.celiahaddon.co.uk/pet%20problems/cats/frameset.htmlBe patient with her. She’s either ill or stressed and punishing her would only make the situation worse.
