A: In addition to the other answers posted, if bacteria enters into the bloodstream via the kidney filtration system for example, causes blood poisoning or Septicemia. Our blood is supposed to be sterile. If left untreated, death will occur. Or, in some instances, if treated too late and, the correct IV antibiotic is not administered, death may occur. Septicemia requires IV antibiotics initially before the patient is started on an antibiotic in pill form. Septicemia causes anemia as well.I just wanted to add this info.
