What are signs of depression that can show in a 6th grader?
Q: I am 11.I have extremely low self confidence.I cut myself.(NOT EXTREMELY. I do it with pins)I can’t allow someone to compliment me without disagreeing. What are some signs of depression that can show in a 6th grader? Please do not be rude.
A: You are not depressed you are just going through a phase of teen angst and rebellion against your parents or school. The best thing too do is stay far away from any drugs that the schools or doctors might provide and go out and live life too the fullest. Turn that angst into something creative IE: Learn an instrument, paint or draw, start cooking, build models or other crafts. The biggest problem today is that kids are put through school almost like a machine with little to no chance of getting out and seeing the world. Get on a mountain bike with some friends grab some granola and plenty of water and do some good riding in your nearest park or mountainy area, breath in deeply. Always remember you are a free human being and if you don’t want to do something than don’t do it but if you want to do something then you better go out and do it. Never let anyone control your life! This quote from Ed Abbey always makes me feel a lot better:”One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am — a reluctant enthusiast… a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here.”So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space.”Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards.” -Edward Abbey
What are the symptoms and signs of depression in teenagers?
Q: I think I may be clinically depressed but everyone thinks it’s just because I’m a teenager. But the hurt, emptiness and confusion are much too deep. What are the signs of clinical depression, specifically in teens? Thanks =)
A: Hurt, emptiness, and confusion are quite normal in teens and every teen that has them thinks they are much too deep. It is a normal stage of growing up. Feeling sad after a disappointment is normal and there are a lot of instances for being disappointed in your teen years. The source link I provide gives you not only the basic symptoms but the difference between normal occurance of those symptoms and abnormal occurance of those symptoms. There is no quick fix to these feelings even if you do have clinical depression other than to find things you do well and focus on those when you get “down”. Antidepressants do not always work well in adults, and in teens and preteens they are even less effective and you only get as much out of therapy as you put into it.
What are some signs of depression in teens?
Q: OKay, well i think i may be going through depression. I am 15 years old, and at school people always say i never have seen you mad/sad etc. and then at home i am a witch with a B. i seperate myself from everyone i always cry. could these be possible signs of depression? what can i do about it. this has been going on for awhile. Even though i try not to be mean and everything, i just cant help it. people making me mad in the slightest way just makes me blow up(ps. its not PMS)oh yeah. i thought of a better explination. i just lash out at people. sometimes i just want to run away. and then othertimes i just want to hide in a corner and never come out.No, it might not be PMS, but it very well could be hormonal. As a teenager you’re going to have mood swings and get a little upset. From what you describe you sound like a normal kid. You’ve heard of teenage angst right? The signs of depression in teenagers or anyone really goes further than crying and occasional mood swings and anger. If you are feeling hopeless like life is not worth living, have low self esteem, feel empty, tired all the time, sleeping too little or too much (as a teen it’s normal to want to sleep 12 hours a night though), eating too little or too much, gaining or losing weight without trying, feel sad or irritable almost all of the time for a period of at least 2 weeks at a time, then you might be depressed.[x]feeling hopeless like life is not worth living[x]feel empty[x]tired all the time[x]low self esteem[x]eating too much[x]feel sad or irritable almost wish my stupid parents would freggin wake up and knowtice this too
