Signs of ear piercing infection?
Q: My left ear has started to itch and become warm/red recently. It gets worse when I wear earrings, especially when putting them in. I’ve had my earrings pierced for about 5 yrs, and I’ve never had an infection. But this isn’t really normal, so is my ear infected? And what should I do?
A: Soak your earrings in hydrogen peroxide so they get nice and clean. Wet a cotton ball with peroxide and get both sides of your ear lobe cleaned off. Do this a few times a day – whenever you think of it. Leave the earrings out for a few days. If you don’t have any peroxide at home, you can get it at any grocery or drug store for less than $2 a bottle and it lasts forever. If at the end of 5-7 days you’re still having symptoms, or if your symptoms ever get worse, go see a doctor. But I’d be shocked if it came to that. This very minor infection should clear up pretty quickly.
