Q: Over a few months, my kanker sores went from small slightly painful sores to huge, stinging bumps that get so big they spread out from in my mouth to my lip. I have tried baking soda, but it never works for me. I used some oral gels, liquids, and a prescription, but they hardly work and if so, i only see results after 5 days or so. Are there any other ways to get rid of kanker sores or is there a medication you would reccomend?

A: If it’s on your lip it might be a cold sore. Buy some Abreva. It’s the only FDA approved over the counter cold sore medicine.

A: the dentist will burn them off with a stick that has silver nitrate on it. it is a little painful. if you want a quick fix do what i do, by the way my dad is a pediatric dentist and i recommend the silver nitrate, but he does this other method sometimes too. basically take a lighter and heat something metal with an end that is about the size of your sore and cauterize it. hurts pretty bad, but you will get instant relief from the cankor sore pain. it’ll not even be noticeably in two days. make sure you keep it all sterile to avoid infections. My sores have only gotten worse one time when i used this method and i think it was because i didn’t burn it off well enough
