Is Pneumonia deadly to pancreatic patients like Patrick Swayze?
Q:
A: Usually towards the end of the cancer fight patients will succumb to a secondary problem the immune system can’t fight off, such as pneumonia. It is very sad. I hope Patrick can fight the pneumonia and recover so he can continue to fight the cancer for awhile and have a few good quality months left with his lovely wife. If he continues to smoke after he recovered from this tho, his chance of surviving for very long will be slim to none.

How deadly is swine flu if it becomes pneumonia?
Q: My Boyfriend is working in South Korea for a year (he is Canadian), and has recently been diagnosed with Pneumonia. They said nothing to him about Swine flu but after the school he works for was shut down for Swine Flu and reading that it can lead to Pneumonia we are pretty sure that was the cause. He was sick for a few weeks before finally taking off work to be seen. The good news last he went was that his lungs are not filling with liquid, (after going back 4 days after initially being seen) but he has to take his temp 3 x a day. Last check in he was @ 103.1 f. He saw 2 docs and the second said he was given the wrong meds by the first, and decided it’s drug resistant bacterial pneumonia anyway so that was no big deal. Both doctor’s agree the prolonged fever is a reason for concern but that it is good news his lungs aren’t filling with liquid. She told him to come back Friday for the results of the sputum test. He was sent home and given a red antibiotic and Tylenol. My Q is, I have read and basically freaked myself out enough on google, so, honestly, is there a chance this could be fatal? He is otherwise very healthy … is pneumonia really THAT lethal, and it is it more-so if caused by Swine Flu? I’d appreciate some factual answers! Thanks so much.
