bread recipie for people with celiacs disease?
Q: i’ve just been diagnosed with celiacs disease, the first problem i have come across with the gluten free diet is the bread!! i ate alot of toast before! i have a Morphie richards bread maker with the model number 48262. i would be really greatful if anyone have any recipies or tips as im pretty desperate i tried to make some but it ended up like cake! lol i followed the recipie which told me to put egg in it. this seemed odd!
A: Gluten is what holds the bread together…like glue. If you take that out you end up with a very crumbly (or plain crummy) texture. They use egg or Xantham Gum as a replacement for the missing gluten to give breads and cakes better texture. Bob’s Red Mill is usually easy to find in most grocery stores around here. They have numerous Gluten Free mixes.
How do I talk to my doctor about testing me for Celiacs Disease?
Q: I want to be screened for Celiacs disease, but I feel my doctor will brush me off. How do I go about asking so she will listen and take me seriously and not just brush it off?
A: Well, if need be, seek a second opinion! Really, your best bet is finding a good GI doc, bc that is more likely to find you a doc willing to help you. Sadly some docs still dont think CD is real. (IT IS! 1 in 133 ppl have it!!)try this:go to www.csaceliacs.org Click “Local Support” look up the support group closest to you and try contacting that support leader. THey are supposed to have a doc on file who understands CD and is their advisor. (I run a local CSA group). They maya lso be able to tell u who to stay away from! You should be able to ask for whatever tests you want within reason! IT is your body and your health and if you feel u may have this, there is absolutely no harm in getting the blood test. You can also do genetic testing from home that will tell u if u carry the genes. If u do not have the genes it is HIGHLY unlikely you will ever have CD triggered.I think CD is something that everyone shoudl be screened for and it would eliminate the 10-15 yeras it takes each Celiac to get diagnosed!! (Thankfully those numbers are shrinking as docs become more aware!)Feel free to email me for more help and see the links I post fo rmore info!Amy
For the people who have Celiacs Disease? (10 pts.)?
Q: Okay, Well i have been having stomach aches for at least…3 weeks now. It hurts when i eat like..bread or anything greasy. My mom said it might be Celiacs Disease. But my question is, Do you gain weight or lose weight when you have Celiacs Disease because i heard you have to be on a gluten-free diet. Is it healthy? Oh and by the way, im only 13 and 5’0. Will i grow anymore? They said it will slow down your growth rate. THANK YOU SO MUCH
A: My stepdad has Celiac’s, so I know a little about it. You don’t eat any wheat, flour, bread, cereal… nothing with gluten in it. I think you would lose weight, but he mostly eats meat, chips, and ice cream so he doesn’t lose much :-). Your growth may be stunted, but at 13 you don’t know if you’re going to grow more anyway. Have you tried not eating gluten for a few days to see if you feel better? Good luck!
