Q: I dislocated my knee two days ago in a ballet class. I was over turning out my foot before a turn and my knee popped out and back in within about 2 second. There was a massive crack. It has never happened to me before. That night it was really swollen and i still can’t move it properly or put much weight on that leg. I haven’t seen a doctor but i know it is in place because it is moving properly. The knee feels really weak, but not so sore anymore. How long should my knee take to heal? Is it not so bad because it went back into place straight away? What exercising should i be doing, if any?
A: Knees just don’t pop. See an orthopedic or go to ER . The problem with injuries like this is there will be alot of swelling. You see the orthopedic, he’ll look at it, might take an x-ray and tell you to come back when the swelling goes down. You go back have the x-ray, she’ll say it looks like some damage in there but I really can’t tell. You need and MRI. Schedule the MRI, get it done, get somebody to read it. See the Doctor again, he’ll look at MRI and say that you need surgery. She’ll schedule surgery. You need to make sure everybody is covered by your insurance including, including anesthesiologist. Be careful of what you sign after they give you the first shot, a relaxer. Rehab post surgery 6-12 months in the gym maintaining condition and strengthening your knee. Thats for a simple one tear. I think your’s is more like a Tom Brady tear. Sorry thats really bad news.
