Q: Im 16 and is currently working in Ntuc fish department as a part time…I deal with fishes everyday. i wrap them, clean the intestines for the customer wash the continaers containing the fish( with dirty water in it).Sometimes when i wash the containers, clean the fish, some of the water or blood splash into my mouth and i juz swallow it… can some1 tell me will i get typhoid from this?And now im really scared casue the supervisor onli tell me to go take the vaccination after i have work for 1 month….Pls ne1 help me

Typhoid fever is not the only problem you could be facing, or the most likely one. Various other bacterial and parasitic infections can result from this. You never need to be swallowing contaminated water. Your supervisor should be required to provide you with protective materials. If you start feeling sick, go to the doctor. Its usually only given to people that are travelling outside of the country though. I don’t understand why your supervisor would suggest you take any vaccine a month after you’ve been on the job … the point of vaccines are to prevent any infection you might be exposed to while working. Q: One of my close friends has Typhoid. What kind of food should he have? The doctor told to have mostly liquid or semi solid food. Are there anything specific that he should avoid and anything specific that he should take more in quantity for quicker recovery? Doctor advised to take more of fruits rather than fruit juice but somewhere I read that orange juice is good for typhoid patients. Please give your suggestions!
A: My best advice is to eat – Green orange , Crushed cooked rice – need to be in liquid status , avoid spicy things completly , no solid items should be consumed as food , Not even bread should be taken.

A: Typhoid fever is caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi. It has a 10-30% fatality rate, but is easily treatable with widely available antibiotics. Symptoms are typical of most bacterial infections, and include high fever, chills, diarrhea, myalgia, rash etc. Extreme symptoms include intestinal perforation and hemorrhage. When promptly treated, morbidity drops to 1%.Ulcers – and I am assumming that you are referring to stomach ulcers – are usually caused by one of two primary agents: a viral infection, or cancer. Helicobacter pylorn, a virus, causes between 70% and 90% of all intestinal/stomach ulcers (the ulcers are essentially the same, and though stomach ulcers are more widely recognized by the public, intestinal ulcers are more common). Another cause is actually non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, though it takes significant doses over significant time for the use of these beneficial drugs to produce an ulcer. As far as I am aware, there is no connection between typhoid and intestinal/stomach ulcers. I suppose it is possible that if irritated, the rash produced by typhoid could result in some kind of skin ulcer, but that is not a well-described phenomenon. So in answer to your question, the two diseases are caused by completely different things and have no significant relationship.
