A: Hey, I have BP, dep, anger and anxiety. I know exactly how your feeling, I too am the same way. Im better now for the most part after finally getting the correct diagnosis. BP is not a fun thing to live with. The rollercoaster ride, the feeling of being alone although you have ppl around you, the sudden bursts of anger and the anxiety you feel for no reason are all very very hard things to live with. I joined an online support group which is the most valualable place in regards to asking other sufferers any info you need to know. You will need to be assesed by a pdoc to confirm what you suspect. Anyway Im always around if your interested in chatting its up to you. [email protected] good luck.
How can i make myself feel better. I just broke up with my boyfriend and im depressed.?
Q: I just cant stop thinking about it. i feel alone and just plain sad. i keep crying like an idiot. how can i make myself distracted.
A: I went through a break up recently too. There is one thing that got me through it. And it was knowing that there is a God who loves me and knows whats best for me, whether I like it or not. There is a man who loves you more than you or anyone else on the earth can possibly love you. His name is Jesus. This song also helped me out a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbrGxEFAEggThe song is by Skillet which is a rock band. Although they never say God or Jesus or faith or anything of that sort in the song.. the message is clear. Many of their songs are like this, this is just one that really helps me when I go through tough stuff. Hope it helps. I’ll be praying for you. God bless.
How do I get family to understand im depressed?
Q: I have been depressed for many years, I’m 17 years old. I don’t evver remember being happy. My mom gets mad at me because I don’t have a job and I couldnt stay in school, I want to get a job…..but I just cant handle the pressure, it seems hopeless. I don’t know what to do, I feel like im worthless, just a burden to my family but i dont know how to crawl out of this depression. Any ideas on how to explain the way I feel to my family would be appreciated.I am on Zoloft 100mg right now, and I have tried to talk with my mom about the depression, but she believes that I’m just lazy, and don’t want to do anything. I’ve tried talking w/professionals, but they just piss me off with all of their assumptions.I live in a small town and these advice groups are…..scarce at best, if there is one, I don’t know of it.
A: I myself am dealing with depression. I was diagnosed with chronic depression some time ago, but, as you yourself have found out, depression usually starts long before we ever go to a doctor. My 1st time around with meds I was on them for 2 1/2 years. I just started a couple of days ago on meds again after a year without them. Unfortunately, my family believes it is just something I’m making up to get attention. You could try giving them information about depression. It’s easy to find in many places. Try printing stuff from online. Walk by a doctor’s office or two and you can get free pamphlets, they usually have them on walls. In the end, it’s up to each individual member of your family whether they want to believe you or not. Even when they do believe you, they don’t always understand. I have many friends who still keep giving me the advice “you just gotta snap out of it” or “you gotta learn to be stronger”. Comments like that will get you down, just understand that they dont… understand that is. Also, even though I know it is difficult to do anything, do try to get at least 15 min of sunlight every day. Just make sure you find out from your local area when the least dangerous time to be out in the sunlight is. Usually 10am – 4pm are the worst, i think. Make sure not to overuse things that are downers. Learn what downers are (i.e. painkillers, certain teas, chocolate, alcohol). Not that u are using or over using any of them, and not that you can’t use them (I love chocolate hehe), just use them very sparingly. If you can’t get ur family to get u to a doctor for a diagnosis, start a workout routine. Med’s try to mimic endorphins. Excercise makes your body release them naturaly. I know, once again, you probably don’t feel like getting up (been there done that), but start walking 5min around the house. Wokr it up to 15 mins a day around the block. It helps big time.(adding to comment)As you can see, several people have already posted advice on “all you need is more friends” or “your job can help you get your mind off of it”. People don’t understand that long term depression is a chemical imbalance and does not have to be triggered by anything. All though sometimes some of those things can help, it doesn’t always. I agree with StillJoesGirl the most. 1st you have to take care of yourself, perhaps later, you’ll have energy to once again worry about the rest.
