When you have pink eye can you use red eye drops along with your pink eye medication?
Q: I have pink eye and my doctor prescribed this antibiotic cream to use on it. But it doesn’t make eyes not red, and I wanted to know if it was ok to supplement the antibiotics with red eye drops such as Visene.
A: No, you should not do that. Hot compresses a few times a day will help. As strange as this may sound, steep a couple of tea bags (real tea, not green tea or herbal tea), and place the moist tea bags on your eyes. The tannic acid in the tea is soothing and will make you feel better and help with the swelling. Wash your hands very often and be careful when cleaning and treated the affected eye to not spread pink eye to your other eye. These links give more information about pink eye. http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/eye/conjunctivitis.htmlhttp://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001016.htmhttp://www.medicinenet.com/pink_eye/article.htmhttp://www.drgreene.com/21_1058.html
How can I tell if my puppy has pink eye or it is just irritated?
Q: I have a 2 month old pitt/catahoula leopard mix puppy, Shep, whose lower eye lid (in the past couple of days) seems to be getting pink. There doesn’t seem to be a discharge and it doesn’t look like “cherry eye”, from what I have seen thru pics on the net. He doesn’t paw at his eye and it doesn’t look cloudy, but I would like to know if it is pink eye or just something irritating his eye.
A: Were my pup we’d be at the vet to find out what the problem is and get it treated correctly. Why take a chance?
How long after I start the drops for pink eye will my eye stop being pink?
Q: I started the drops Saturday night… but my eye is still pink. Not pussing and only draining clear in small amounts, but it’s still pretty pink. Is that normal? I thought the first thing that happened was the pink cleared up.Thanks!Seriously, use the whole bottle of drops? I was wondering about that too.
A: This would be dependent on how strong the infection is…typically within two days the effect of the antibiotic should start showing…as an added note…if you use Makeup…and used it when you were infected…throw it all out!! Otherwise you will continue to reinfect your eyes!! Very Important side note!! I was an Optician for twenty years…saw this alot!!
