How can i tell if my lip piercing is being rejected/infected?
Q: I recently got my bottom lip pierced (between 1-2 weeks ago). I have had previous issues with infection/rejection with my belly piercing and was worried about this one. I have been using the special mouth wash and spray for the outside (i haven’t used salt water cause i wasn’t told to). It doesn’t hurt (unless it accidentally gets bumped) and isn’t swollen and isn’t red (i can’t tell but there might be a pinkish tinge) but there is a little green gunk or whatever (it doesn’t smell). Is this a normal part of the healing process i didn’t know if green was normal or bad cause my belly ring didn’t hurt and wasn’t red before it was rejected either? So can someone tell me if it sounds normal or not?
A: I think it is not normal, why don’t you try asking a doctor who lives near you. Maybe the greenish color is caused by the piercing (maybe it’s not a good quality).
infected lip piercing?
Q: my lip piercing got infected, i went to dentist today and he told me to remove it and I’m taking antibiotics, he removed all the pus and now looks fine. can i pierce again in the same spot, how long it takes so i can do again? what could have caused the infection i was healing it right, maybe the jewelry?
A: Taking jewelry out of an injection isn’t recommended, even by what your dentist said. It’s not a good idea because the infection could spread elsewhere. But you can get re-pierced in the same spot. As long as the hole has closed completely, you’d be able to get it pierced again as soon as you’d like. It probably wasn’t the jewelry but if it was, check with your piercer what type of jewelry you had and talk to the piercer. They should be able to figure out what type of jewelry you would need not to cause another infection.
keiloid on my lip piercing =/ what to do ?!?
Q: ive had my lip pierced since june & had no problems healed pretty fine and all of that…. but now its october & theres a lil bump on the outside of the piercing and in the inside its very red around the hole and theres been a lil pus coming out of the outside? ive put bactene on it to make sure if there is an infection it can go away, ive also been taking anti biotics and its still pretty soar & hurting. idk what to do cause i dont want to take it out & let it close cause then i know ill have an infection trapped in there .. so can anyone help mee out & tell me what i should do now.
A: I don’t think its a keloid because if it is you will have to have surgery to remove keloids. I’ve never had this problem with my lip piercing but i did with my tragus piercing. It’s like a small bump that appears around the jewlery? The best thing you can do is a hot press. Take a sea salt/ water mixture (which you should be using to clean the piercing) with really hot water, as hot as you can stand. Put a water soaked cotton ball on either side of the piercing and push down on the bump. Do this twice a day, every day and it should slowly shrink in size until it is gone. It’s best not to pop the bump or else it will just be open to more bacteria getting in and a bigger bump will result.
