How can I get my Dad to be recognized, he has cancer?

Q: I don’t really know what I’m looking for some kind of program or something. My Dad has a very aggressive form of cancer (squamous cell carcinoma). He has had the highest amount of chemo and radiation that you can give to a cancer patient, he has had multiple surgeries. My Dad has been going through all this for over a year now, and he has handled it with diligence and grace, and all the while still continuing to go to work almost everyday, only taking off acouple days for when he really couldn’t get out of bed. and like a week after his last surgery. I’m sure that most days he didn’t even feel like he get out of bed bu he still managed to and put a smile on his face. My Dad is amazing! I have seen him go through hell and back then back again. Even when he feels like crap he manages to help others in need. I feel like I need to do something really great for him, because he trully deserves it. He even continued to keep going to school during treatments and he recieved his Bachelors degree this May at the age of 54. There is so much more greatness about this man that I don’t even have the time and space to write it all here. What can I do to get my Dad recognized. Is there like a lifetime achievement award for a normal person.

Consider a kind hearted roast. Include friends family and academic buddies.ask them to compose funny stories they have witnessed and above all keep it lighthearted. keep it simple not to long 2-3 hours. Your dad will love to see them and laugh at what they tell. Everyone will be glad to have spent this time with him. Make up a Lifetime achievement plaque and give it to him at this gathering.

Q: Cancer has robbed me and so many others of people we love. It is the one disease I fear. Is the key to curing cancer alerting the immune system to these abnormal cells? I know that cancer is apart of the body; not perceived as foreign and that’s why they can co-exist with normal cells. Could we specifically target them so that they are recognized as foreign? Is there a property of these cells that only they contain that could be exploited?

A: They are still working on immunology. I took immunology therapy and it worked as advertised, postponed recurrence by 13 months. Hopefully, they will find something, but no big breakthroughs in the near future.
