Q: Last year, I had a massive cold sore that took about a month and a half to heal. Now, I am starting to get it again. It is already starting to hurt. I think it has something to do with the cold weather coming. Any advice on how to get rid of it and stop the recurring sores?thanks mike :] ill try that and im pretty sure its not herpes… because it comes with the drying of my skin and the peeling of cuticles.
A: Right you are George. The “cold Sores” go by the medical name of herpes simplex, and yes again they do – indeed – hurt like the dickens. What I do when one of these sores develop is to get a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, dip a Q tip into the peroxide and apply the solution directly onto the sore. It may smart a little, but never intolerably. In fact it feels kind of good. Do this 3 to 4 times a day, and in 3 or 4 days you may be surprised that the problem is done with. Give it a go George. What have you got to lose? The peroxide and Q tips are cheap, and it takes just a minute or two to complete. It works for me. Mike
