Why do I still have a fever if my sinus infection is gone?
Q: I had a bad sinus infection last week, but it was mostly dry. I couldn’t blow the stuff out. I started a low-grade fever on Monday of last week, went to the doctor on Tuesday, and a week later the congestion is gone but I still have a low-grade fever around 100. Should I be concerned that there’s something else wrong?I’ve been on a macrolide — Clarithromycin — for 8 days.
A: It means you still have an infection. Let the doctor know if it doesn’t go away in a day or two.
How can i help cure my sinus infection/hay-fever w/o seeing a doctor?
Q:
A: Locally applied antihistamine drugs (sprays, drops, creams). If it persists and progresses to being unbearable – inhalers and medications containing corticosteroids (pills or injections) to reduce the general allergic immune reaction (swelling, redness, itching). Of course, being from another country, I don’t know the names of the drugs of these categories used in your country, and I don’t know whether you can buy and use them on your own. Be careful, however, not to overdose on antihistaminics and corticosteroid drugs, since they are not harmless – might cause side effects and, in time, cause developing of insensitivity to the active substance.
