A: If you're having all of the usual UTI symptoms (urgency, not able to go, burning, maybe a slight fever) then you need to visit your doctor as soon as possible. It's very possible for an untreated UTI to travel upward to your kidneys. I let a couple of them go years ago and I ended up in the hospital for two days with IV meds and heavy duty pain killers. Best of luck and seriously, go to the doctor!

Will a urinary tract infection go away on its own?
Q: I have had what I think is a UTI for about 3 days now. I have been taking urinary pain relief from CVS and have been drinking a lot of water and cranberry juice. I have heard from some people that UTI's won't go away on their own but mine is feeling better and I don't want to go to the doctor if this is almost over. Is my urinary tract infection going to go away because of the medicine or should I still go to my doctor?
A: I've definitely had mine go away on their own before. I have also had them not go away and had to go to the doctor for them, but yes sometimes your body fights them off itself. If you're feeling better, I wouldn't bother going unless the symptoms start getting worse again.
