Moms who had a major muscle tear while delivering?
Q: So I’m not talking about a regular skin tear, I am talking about a major muscle tear. Did you experience one with the second baby, or was the damage done once you got done with the first one. I tore although I had a midwife stretching me, my son came out in one push from his fore head to his toes, so there wasn’t much they could do to help prevent the muscle from tearing. It took over 6 months to heal. I am now pregnant and just wondering what the chances are that it will happen again.
A: Ok please be advised that this answer may be a little graphic. When I gave birth to my son (my first baby) 10 months ago, I had a very hard time delivering. Apperantly my opening was very small and his head was very large, the dr did an episiotomy but I still tore. It was called a level 4 because I did not rip around the birth canal I ripped inward along my rectal wall GROSS ALERT (the part that separates the vagina from the rectum resulting in one gigantic cavity.) It took the dr twenty minutes to stitch me up properly. When the dr came back to check my stitches he told me that if I have another baby I may want to consider a Csection because there was a good chance that I could suffer the same injury and repeated tearing and suturing could result in scar tissue that may cause discomfort during intercourse. I don’t know if I will have another baby but if I do I plan to talk to my dr and see if it would be bad for me to have another vaginal delivery. I would talk to your ob/gyn and see what they recommend. Congrats and good luck!
How long should I expect to be off work with an ankle sprain and lower leg muscle tear?
Q: Monday I was told I had a grade 2 ankle sprain and severe muscle strain with tearing in the peronous longus and peronous brevis muscles in my lower leg. Was told I would have to miss at least 2 weeks work. Was due to start a new job yesterday and I just hope they hold the position for me. The job involves walking or standing for the full eight hours. Does 2 weeks sound about right or is that too long?
A: Two weeks sounds about right to me. You should be able to bear weight on your ankle by now. Good luck in your new job.
how long does a shoulder muscle tear pain last?
Q: I think I either pulled my shoulder muscle or tore my shoulder muscle. How can I tell the diffrence. It feels like someone is stabbing me in the shoulder and I went to the doc 3 times and I think she said I tore it. I am going to Physical theropy in 2 days. Its been hurting for a week now. And the muscle relaxers and vicodin isnt really helping the pain.Although today I finally woke up without to much pain.I didnt get into any kind of car accident. I think it may have pulled or torn at work as I am a cna and lift patients. I really cant think of any other way I could have hurt myself
A: We don’t know to what extent your shoulder was injured, and there is a great deal of difference between muscle pull and tear, as well as cartilage involvement. Work well with PT as they are just awesome!! And listen to their advise and the exercises they send you home with. They may also send you home with a shoulder immobilizer (sling)…..do wear it, as what you do now to take care of it could impact whether you have trouble with it the rest of your life.
