How do you know if your toddler has gained bladder control?
Q: HelloMy 25 month old shows all the signs of potty training readiness, asking for the potty, awareness, at least some of the times, of the need to go, etc. We have have been trying potty training for a day and a half and he seems to be weeing every five to ten minutes, sometimes going to the potty and of course, sometimes he has accidents. The potty/accicent ratio seems to be about 50/50. So my question is if he is weeing every five to ten minutes, does he really have the bladder control necessary to continue with this? Thanks
A: It is all new and exciting to him so he will want to sit on it every 5 mins. With my first she went on the potty and never looked back, but with my second it was more difficult, it was like she was frightened of the toilet. But she was telling me when she needed and hated to have a wet nappy, so I took it she was ready. But if I was you I would stay in the house for at least 4 days and take away his nappy if you think he is ready. Good luck.
how do you females control your bladder ?
Q: for females only . when you are on stake out and you cant leave how do you empty or control your bladder.
A: Control your intake of fluids. You don’t actually need liters of water every few hours – that’s a myth. Practice holding it. I don’t recommend this because you aren’t really training your bladder to “hold it”, you’re training your mind to ignore the signal that you have to go. You can get really good at that – but it’s not good for your bladder and can cause problems later in life. Talk to your GYN if this is a serious problem. She might make other recommendations.
How long can you hold your pee before you lose bladder control?
Q: Is there a standard? I used to have a teacher in high school who would not allow students to use the bathroom because he said humans can hold their pee for something like one hour before they ‘wet their pants’. Is this true?
A: That teacher was sick. Normally is one hour, but if somebody ask it he should let him (her) out. The most of the kidney problems occur when we don’t drink enough fluids or we restrain ourselves when we shouldn’t. And when we drink beer, tea, coffee or we catch a cold, one hour is to much. The surgeons have the best bladder control because they must operate for 4 to 6 hours, but this isn’t the case of average people.
