- BLOOD BLISTERS- are you supposed to pop them or let them be?
- Q: hmmmmmmmmm?????thanks x
- A: i have gotten them on the bottoms of my feet before from playing basketball barefoot (i know not a good idea). In general it is never a good idea to pop a blister because it is helping the wound heal and keeping it from getting infected. In my personal experience, however, if i find them painful due to a pressure, I will get a sterile needle ( a needle can be made sterile by heating it in a flame for several seconds) and making a small hole coming in from the side at the bottom of the blister. that way, the skin from the blister will still be there over the raw skin to protect it and keep it from hurting.

- Q:
- A: only if hurts you or if it is in a location where it will burst in an uncontrolled way. If you must, clean and sterilize the area around the blister with alcohol or betadine solution. Then drain the blister by inserting a small sterile needle into the side of the blister until you just pierce the skin. Then press on the other side of the blister to remove all of the fluid. clean again with alcohol and cover with a bandage. This being a blood blister the skin should seal very quickly and heal very quickly as well.

- Q: school is starting and im not sure if your supposed to pop them or not. so confused
- A: Pop it. The pressure from the blood blister hurts like crazy when you don’t. Just use a clean needle and treat it like a normal cut afterwards (hydrogen peroxide, neosporin, and a band-aid).
