Yamada Tarou Monogatari Manga Review

Yamada Tarou Monogatari, starts off introducing the main character, Yamada Tarou, the eldest son of Yamada family as an honor student in one of the most prestige high school in Japan. He’s got high grades, good looks, love by all girls and excel in all sports. However, despite all his merits, he has but one terrible flaw. He’s dirt poor and he’s got a whole bunch of younger brothers and sisters depending on him for their day to day living. He’s so poor that he practically worries about his next meal all the while. For survival, he works after school doing some odd jobs here and there as shown in the manga. For example, he once works as a maid (yes, in maid attire), at his friend’s house and also worked as gigolo at a cosplay bar (yes again, he did cosplay).

One of the funniest thing in the entire manga is, almost everyone that Yamada knows, thought that he’s a rich guy, a prince or at the very least, son of someone important. Don’t get me wrong, Yamada didn’t lie, in fact he admits that he’s from a poor family all the while, but no one seems to believe him, except a few who had actually seen where he live and what he do after school.

The main drawing point of this manga is the story, it practically makes you laughing non-stop while reading the manga. The artwork however, is not much to be desired. For me, the story had already made me forget about how bad the artwork is. However, different reader may have a different opinion.
