Will Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s Relationship End with the End of the ‘Twilight’ Series?

Two of the hottest movie stars have shown no signs of slowing down since they’ve broken into the spotlight with the “Twilight” series. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are set to wrap up the monster franchise with the release of “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ this November.

Although the couple has been able to maintain a fruitful relationship, what will happen once each begins a solo career without the support of the other onscreen? Thus far, the most popular teen vampire and his bride have stayed equally prevalent in today’s mainstream media mostly due to the success of the Stephenie Meyer series.

Post-“Twilight”

However, once that is gone and the actors are held to push their respective careers forward, the result could end up costing them the coveted relationship the two have not only built onscreen, but off as well. Without the support of each other and a powerhouse series that has given “Harry Potter” a run for its money, the Edward and Bella fantasy may be similar to a Jason Derulo hit song, with each “Ridin’ Solo.”

Here are other celebrity relationships that have turned for the worse once one of the parties inches a little further into the fame monster known as celebrity.

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore

The “Two and a Half Men” star met his bride, the former Mrs. Bruce Willis, in 2003. Two short years later, the couple married. Prior to hooking up with the cougar actress, Kutcher had moderate success with the FOX sitcom and movies such as “The Butterfly Effect” and “Just Married.” In 2010 he was named one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People. With Moore essentially breaking par after hits such as “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” and “G.I. Jane,” the mother of three has fallen off the Hollywood map, leaving her most recent marriage as the future ex-husband number three. The two are currently in the middle of their divorce.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe

These two young actors met in 1997 and married two years later. Phillippe had a flourishing career that included roles in “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Cruel Intentions.” Once the marriage occurred, the “Stop-Loss” actor has been only existent in sleeper films such as “Breach,” “Franklyn” and “The Lincoln Lawyer.” Meanwhile, Witherspoon has accumulated hits such as “Just Like Heaven” and 2005’s “Walk The Line,” in which she walked away with the Oscar for Best Actress. The couple divorced in 2006, citing irreconcilable differences.

Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe

One of the biggest disparity in careers occurred between an Academy Award winner and the younger brother of Rob Lowe. The couple met in 1992 and married five years later. During their courtship, Lowe amassed multiple roles in TV movies such as “The Apartment Complex” and “Acceptable Risk.” While he was dazzling fans in forgettable films, his counterpart was racking up Oscars with performances in 1999’s “Boys Don’t Cry” and 2004’s “Million Dollar Baby.” It’s really no wonder why their marriage ended shortly thereafter in 2007.

History As A Guide

Hopefully, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are the exception to the rule. However, if history is a guide, I’m guessing that their relationship will soon end as well; unless of course, their careers end from not having a powerhouse such as “Twilight” to wheel them along.
