What Video Game You Should Play from 2011

Every year it’s the same thing over and over with video games: they drain me of all my money. I am not complaining though because I do it to myself, nobody forces me to drive all the way to the local game store, drop $60 then drive all the way back home. But what I am saying is that some games from this year (2011) have been worth the drive, gas, and hard earned green backs than others and I am going to tell you the viewer what I feel was the best game of this year.

So I have played quite a few video games this year. Everything from the latest shooter game, football, and racing game; but there is one that can be called my favorite of the year. In my opinion it boils down to 2 games. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Minecraft. Skyrim was released on November 11th and Minecraft was officially released November 18th. Both are extremely fun, entertaining, and offer tons of replay value but only one can be a favorite and for me it’s Skyrim.

While Minecraft is fun and all after you have been playing it for a few hours it tends to get somewhat boring and repetitive, it’s the type of game you play after you haven’t played it for a few weeks and you are bored with nothing to do. This is not the case with Skyrim. Before I go into more detail let me give an overview of it.

Skyrim is a Role Playing Game (RPG) where you take on the role of a person with the soul of a dragon… blah, blah, blah… you get to kill dragons. If you need more detail go to YouTube and search for Skyrim Let’s Play. Not only with that explain what is going on it should give you an insight on if it’s your type of game. Now if you are what one would call a casual gamer where you basically have to have everything spelled out to you, not to be rude or anything, then you may not find this game appealing as you do often have to solve various puzzles varying in difficulty to do something. Again YouTube can explain and show you way better than I can tell you. Well any who I am going to tell you what makes the game fun.

First off you get to customize your character. Anything from a big burly man to a cat person, or lizard person. There is about 7-10 races with different abilities. Once you get past the first 30 minutes of the game is when you get set free to do whatever you want. Literally! If you want to go be a travelling merchant, local hero, thief, assassin, and did I mention dragon slayer. The game let’s you do whatever you want pretty much. If you want to buy a house completely furnish it with all the essentials and then go to the local forge and craft iron daggers all day, you can do that. Plus dragons, dragons are a big deal as they can randomly attack you but you usually get a warning.

Now if I haven’t convinced you to play this game then again go to YouTube and look it up as it will show you what all you can do. Personally I put over 30 plus hours in the game in 1 weekend and I have not even come close to beating it.

Final thoughts is if you like role playing, and medieval type stuff kind of like Lord Of The Rings then there is a fair chance that you would like this game.
