What is Car Camping?

What is car camping? In doing the research for this book, I found to my surprise many different means for car camping. Car camping is far more then just camping in your car. In some cases Car camping meant you brought you camping supplies in your car, then you remove the camping equipment you need, leaving the rest in the car.

We are going to talk about both.

Car Camping

Car camping doesn’t always means you are camping in your car. You use the car to store everything and you work out of it, as you need things.

Car camping is carrying your camping equipment in a car. Unlike more traditional camping, car camping allows you to carry quite a bit more equipment and the focus is usually enjoying the campsite, cooking, and day hikes. Car camping is self-explanatory: you’re able to drive right up to your campsite and don’t have to unload your supplies from your car (or van, wagon, or RV). Since you don’t have to worry about lugging your gear anywhere when you’re car camping, you can go for complete comfort when selecting your camping chair. Car camping is the perfect way to vacation with friends and family, without breaking your budget.

It is possible if you have a large minivan, SUV, Sedan or Station Wagon with seats that lay down. However remember blankets and pillows are necessary. Car camping means that everything and the kitchen sink could make the list-after all, it’s the perfect synch between comfort and the outdoors. That said the trick is to bring enough items that stand in for traditional homebound amenities while still reinforcing the pleasures of being outdoors. Car camping is a favorite pastime of families with young children, senior citizens, and those who do not want to backpack. Instead of hauling everything on their backs, car camping enthusiasts carry their gear in a car or van.

It is not turning your vehicle into a rolling motel, but rather packing up your camping gear and heading out to the campsite of your choice. Once you have arrived at your destination, unpack the equipment, set up camp and enjoy! Car camping has been one of my favorite activities since college. It’s fun and easy to organize. Car camping is a relaxed form of camping. It is a great time to get closer to your family and make memories.

Car camping has always been my favorite way to camp. Sure, backpacking is fun, but it can be a lot of work too. Car camping sites will usually include an area for a tent, a fire pit, and restrooms. One thing you don’t want to do and that is to use your vehicle’s headlights to illuminate your camping site at night. Car camping allows the luxury of bribing along a more complicated tent, so keep that in mind if you have a vehicle at your disposal. As long as you are prepared, and know what your tent can do you will keep yourself safe while having fun.

Car camping – stay and play on the cheap? Stay safe on the road? Car camping stoves work very efficiently to cook up sumptuous meals just like home. You can even use the pots and pans you have at home to begin your camp kitchen supplies.

Tent camping sites often cost less than campsites with full amenities, and most allow direct access by car. Some “walk-in” sites lay a short walk away from the nearest road, but do not require full backpacking equipment.
