Today I saw a woman
Looking at me
Through the reflection in the mirror
She looked tired and old
Old beyond her years
I slathered on my cold cream
And brushed my teeth before turning out the light
I entered my daughter’s room
And planted a kiss upon her forehead
At fifteen, she is hardly a baby
Yet, with autism, she is hardly a teen
I sighed heavily and closed her door
And was thankful that today was uneventful
As I walked into the living room
I saw my husband sitting in his recliner
Watching sports
He is so patient with me and with her
I snuck up behind him
And planted a kiss on the top of his bald head
Small blessings
For an uneventful day
