The Last Wish

As thy body draws near must I await

My breath ceases as though I lie still

Through sorrow, you appear to elate

In prayer, this feeble life, for you I will

~~~
Adorn and cherish but leave behind
A world that’s full of pain and hate
To us, they have been the most unkind
In wanting you, my needs will satiate
~~~

For you, I dream, and think to attain

A goal that seeks to reach the saints

In life and death, my soul will remain

Ever so true to you that here I may

~~~
Find the place where I come to rest
With you, in my heart, I feel blessed
