The Glades Season Two Comes to an End

Another season of Glades has come to an end. The season finale of the second season aired September 5th.

Glades is a hit show on A&E, starring Matt Passmore as Detective Jim Longworth and Kiele Sanchez as Callie Cargill. Jim and Callie have a work relationship and a personal relationship but the personal relationship is still undefined. They have feelings for each other but keep struggling with taking it to the next level.

Jim does what he can to help Callie out but Callie tries to do things on her own. She is a single mother because her husband is in jail. In this season though there is a little rough patch when her husband Ray gives the police information and gets out as part of the deal he made to give them the information. Ray and Jim have this standoff whenever they see each other but it never really comes to anything.

Callie and Ray end up getting divorced this season, but just as they divorce one of Jim’s old flames from Chicago comes to Florida originally on a case but ends up sticking around. This puts a strain between Callie and Jim because Callie can see Jim still has feelings for this old friend. She only sticks around long enough for a few episodes and then returns to Chicago for her dream job and tries to get Jim to come with her, but he stays in Florida for Callie.

Jim has this humour about him that brings a touch of comedy to the show, so it’s not just another detective show. Each show will have you laughing and cheering for Jim and Callie to get together.

The season finale gave Callie the test of love and chance to leave for a job in Atlanta that would pay for her medical school. She almost gets on the plane, but after being taken as a hostage in the hospital Emergency Room where she works, she realizes she does want to give things a shot with Jim and doesn’t want to uproot her son so she chooses to stay.

I do have to say the season finale would have been a little better with the cliff hanger of us wondering if she would actually go through with the job offer. Instead they chose to have her show up in front of Jim’s house emerging from the Taxi from the airport. She explains she didn’t want to have to explain at the interview why she isn’t taking the great opportunity they are offering with a high position and paying for the rest of her medical school. So there really isn’t a cliff hanger to bring people back for next season, but with the writing of the show they don’t really need it. The writing is so great, and the actors know exactly what to do to act it out, those things alone are enough to make me want to watch next season.
