The Floyd Mayweather Vegas Bias

Obviously Floyd Mayweather is a special man. Being that right now he is rated as the top boxer in the world he seems to be living life on his own terms. He lives in a palatial house. His walk in closet is probably the same size as my condominium. He is not subject to the limitations that we common working folk have to subject ourselves to. He has been criticized for his behavior. A role model he is not and yet even the legal system cow tows to him and treats him like a god.

He has made millions of dollars in his boxing career. That is probably why he carries the nickname,”Money”. How appropriate is that? Every fight he has is a financial stimulus to Las Vegas. I have been in the city during one of his fights and you cannot find a seat at Denny’s without waiting at least a half hour.

I am not an expert in judiciary appointments. In my simple understanding the position of judges are political. So this recent postponement of the serving of a sentence for Mayweather is not a surprise. He has a 90 day sentence. The judge that heard the case needs to see that the territory benefits from the decision and its application. It was like finding a cloud’s silver lining.

Floyd is the quintessential bad boy. Not just a bad boy outside but also inside the ring as shown by his win over Ortiz. He won fair and legal though controversy aside. He has gone from being described as ducking Manny Pacquiao to what people perceive today as sure trouble for Pacman because of the later’s latest performance against Juan Manuel Marquez.

What a deal it must be to be given everything on a silver platter. It must be nice. However you cut it you have to say that this guy is a winner. In boxing he has an unbeaten record. His biggest victory however is against the legal system. As you can see even a jail sentence is moved around him at his convenience. Everyone love’s a winner.
