The Best Haircut

We rely on haircuts, color and other beauty services now more than ever. Hair makes a statement; it defines, it adds personality, and it sets usu apart. Our hair is unique to us and I believe it’s an accessory and an investment. Many people are extremely devoted to their salon professionals and rely heavily on their appointments to keep them looking and feeling their best. There are others, however, who decide on cut or color services because of an emotional response to something such as a break-up, getting a new job, or celebrating something with a friend. My biggest rule of thumb – DON’T DO IT YOURSELF. But here are some of our top tips from the red carpet when it comes to getting a great cut and style.

1. Avoid the walk-in situation. Many people hang the “walk-ins welcome” sign overhead but I believe this can make your salon experience a challenging one. Get to know your salon professional, and stick with them.
2. Avoid last-minute salon appointments. This helps eliminate stress, worry and wonder on whether or not you can even get in, or perhaps your salon professional already being booked for the day you are trying to get in. Schedule your salon appointments in advance.
3. Bring tear-sheets. I know many people disagree, but I love them. This helps give your salon professional a visual of what you want. I also suggest writing out a few words beside the photo so you can describe to the stylist what you are seeing.
4. DON’T DO IT YOURSELF. Avoid cutting or coloring your hair by yourself at all costs. Your salon professional is the best person to help you with these professional services, and will help keep your hair looking its best as well.

Routine and consistent salon appointments with your hair stylist will keep you on track for healthy tresses and helps avoid the “what did I do?” feelings that come from last minute or walk-in salon visits.

We hope you find these tips helpful.
